The Douro River is an extraordinary place, magical, some people say. High, steep banks that, in many places, are sheer granite walls rising several hundred feet. Many years of hard work have terraced the steep banks in other areas. The Romans first created many terraces to grow grapes and make wine to send to the Roman Empire. In some places, the terraced mountainsides stretch as far as we can see.

The Douro River brings life to all it passes, and in Portugal, this life is very much alive, as you will experience if you join us. We travel along the Douro River to explore, gain knowledge, and have fun. Making new friends as we go along.
We are not tourists; we are travelers.

I really enjoyed getting to know the people and seeing a part of Portugal that few tourists get to enjoy. I liked having the price inclusive – not worrying about any expenses.
A fantastic paddle. This is truly a world-class kayaking area. I'll be back next year. Thank you, Rui and Jack, for helping me live this experience.
The people, the food, and the accommodations were superb. But I most enjoyed being on the water, paddling a spectacularly beautiful area that I had never seen before.
One of my favorite paddles....picking figs right in your kayak, the locks, the vineyards and their products (!), the food. All top notch.
It's a great way to see Portugal and be totally immersed. I'm signed up for my second tour after doing the 10-day tour in 2023.
Just finished up a trip in September. Excellent value, great guides, I'm still full from all the food, wine and beer. Great kayak trip.
Spectacular, unique, family-owned, out-of-the-mainstream places you would never find on your own. Comfortable & clean with delicious, home-style meals, copious amounts of wine shared with all your new friends, simply fabulous.
You need to do this trip, even if you're not an experienced kayaker, a magnificent journey down a great river under the watchful care of an attentive crew, simply fabulous.
We did this last June, and it was amazing! The paddling was perfect, the guides and staff were beyond attentive and welcoming, and the food was delicious and local. What a way to see and experience Portugal! Highly recommend!
We had an amazing experience on our kayak adventure with Douro Kayak Expedition. We met beautiful new friends, had unique stays in cuisine across beautiful Portugal. The crew of Rui, Tiago, and Pedro were awesome. Their kindness, hard work, respect, and personable interactions were so appreciated - a 5-star experience for sure.
